Which is more efficient: an electric or gas tank water heater?
A water heater's Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) measures its efficiency by comparing the amount of hot water produced to the energy required. A higher UEF means greater efficiency. On average, electric tank water heaters have higher UEF ratings than gas models because they convert more energy into heat.
